Toubkal Guide & Imlil Information
Imlil is best known as a base for trekkers
and mountaineers.
As a village it is situated in a stunning location, fairy-tale like
especially in winter. For Toubkal, this is the stopping off point for 90% of walkers or
trekkers looking to climb the
highest mountain in N. Africa. Here you can find accommodation,
guides, mules, equipment, information and most importantly; a fantastic view
of Toubkal.
This site has been created by Matthew Low.
I'm a British qualified mountain instructor, I have lived in Morocco since
1990 and am actively involved in outdoor activities here. I'm a
keen mountaineer, rock climber and kayaker.
The aim of this site is to provide you
with as much information as I
can to make your trip in the Atlas Mountains enjoyable, and try and take
out some of the guesswork. I also get a number of enquiries from
research student wanting to know about the effect of tourism on a local
population, and am happy to point people in the right direction.
I will update the information as I become aware of it, so there is
likely to be continuous changes. If you feel I've left something
out, email me and let me know.
There are a number of links to my favourite
relevant web sites, my company is included of course! I have
recently added my Summit Post page, as there is a lot more specific
information there about routes, mountains and the area. There is a
section for accommodation and Moroccan guides. Often the two are
linked as many of the guides have created small guest houses to put up their
clients or independent travellers. I've also included prices where I have been able to obtain them.
However, it must be stressed that these are the prices that have
been quoted to me. There has been no attempt at negotiation,
they are there for your comparison and evaluation, but in the end it
is up to you to 'do the deal'.
Enjoy the site. |
